Today’s ride was the rescheduled joint Sydney branches ride to Grey Gum Café at Putty which was originally due to take place on 6 April but was called off due to bad weather. We were due to meet other branches at Macquarie Park Windsor for a 11.00 am departure.
Seven of us met at Menai 7/11 ready for a 8.00 am exit. Riders were:

Right on time we headed off for a simple run to Windsor. Out to Heathcote Road, then a jaunt along the M4 taking the exit onto Camden Valley Way and Bringelly Road where we battled the abundance of traffic lights. While we didn’t get all green lights at this time of the morning, we did miss the traffic and had a steady run but it was good to cross onto Greendale Road for some open riding. We passed through Greendale, Wallacia, Mulgoa and Penrith before turning off Castlereagh Road and onto Cranebrook Road. Here we pulled into MacDonalds for a coffee and for some breakfast. With ample time to spare we headed into Windsor to meet up with fellow Ulysses members.
We were on the early side but the advantage was parking was easy. Gradually the park began to fill with bikes and at 10.50 members from the Hills branch provided the ride briefing, simple route following Putty Road for 85 klms and turn right into The Grey Gum Café and stay safe and watch for other rider as I guess we had in excess of 50 bikes ready to go.
After meeting and greeting and some lunch we got ready to head back home. Tunnels said he would stop of along the way to refuel and straighten his back (the old sports bike was not made for longer rides), Roger said he would leave at the M4. The rest headed back the way we came but for Dakar, Gerry and myself we turned onto Silverdale Road at Wallacia to take the long way home (Silverdale, The Oaks, Cawdor, Douglas Park, Appin (where Gerry headed home) and OPH) whereas TT and Slim went straight ahead.
A great day out and something different to ride in such a large group.
