Gorilla, the Club’s Ride Captain volunteered to lead the ride with the scribe to be elected at the morno’s stop. I’d already guesstimated the outcome based on past experiences – believe I’d voiced my opinion on the electronic selection criteria in the bast and I’ll leave it at that.
Anyway, the consensus was to end up at Glen’s Bakery Café, The Oaks – eleven riders and one pillion set off. Might add, in a stunning sunny day with the thermometer hovering in the mid 20’s for the whole ride – couldn’t have asked for better; life is good! Won’t go into who rode as all participants will know who they were. Quite an interesting and different mixture of bikes with the only types not making an appearance being motocrosses, trials, trikes, outfits and probably some others.
To give an idea of the route and for those interested, who maybe haven’t ventured this way, Gorilla led us down the OPH, Appin Rd., Broughton Pass, Douglas Park, Finns Rd., Cawdor Rd., Westbrook Rd., Fosters Lane, May Farm Rd., Werombi Rd., Bob’s Range Rd., Silverdale Rd. to The Oaks. Then after mornos, home via Montpelier Dr., Barkers Lodge Rd., to Picton where we turned onto the Old Hume H’way., across Razorback then back onto Finns Rd., to Menangle. Next, to my dismay turned us onto Moreton Park Rd., which I must rate as my not most favourable road, though in long long days gone-by it used to be one of my most much-loved scratch roads – how times have changed! Then back onto Douglas Park Dr. and home much the way we had got there.
I must categorically state I thoroughly enjoyed the brisk pace set by our trip leader and as silver medallist dutifully stayed velcro’d to the trip leader’s clanger – sorry Barney, but you wouldn’t been in any contention (an aside). Hope all the others had a great day and thanks Gorilla for a thoroughly enjoyable ride. Just remembered this report was only going to be a pithy (and spelled right) one – just got carried away! Carpe diem.
