The weather reports all week were not looking good, but this morning the sky and radar showed otherwise, so I headed to the Ampol @ Heathcote to lead this ride.
We had 8 attend, the ride down was via OPH & Picton Road along with a pit stop at Pheasants Nest. I then continued on the ride lead, as soon as we took the Mittagong turn off I could smell the relaxation of the Southern Highlands, much like a relaxing essential eucalyptus oil 1hr massage. As planned I guided the riders up to the Mt Gibraltar lookouts apply assisted by Slim as TEC.
We then headed down the mountain to Bowral where we stopped at The Bowral Hotel for a Beer.
Up to this point I had not made 1 mistake but then I let Wills walk us down to a café for lunch, unfortunately both were full with no tables, so I led them down the path to an empty non country cottage looking cafe run by a young Indian Family (that was empty) To all our surprise we had a lovely air conditioned table, the coffee was awesome and the Brioche Bun with Haloumi and Egg is one of the best I have ever had.
On to mistake # 2, Gorilla and Wills were saying they would ride home via The Y towns and Broughton Pass so I humbly said ok u lead us home Keith, I will go at the back with Slim. There were many tight turns and a few u turns, while I was trying to keep up I did not know if I was In Yerninbool, Yananderra or the aptly named Yallah (Greek for hurry up). All good I kept up (sort of) then to confuse me more Slim and Tunnels took a different way half through, I followed the pack like a good TEC. Sadly Gorillas run found the only 5 minutes of rain within 150km at Douglass Park so The Harley got down and dirty as I had to.
End of the story, mistake 1 and mistake 2 were fine I am only having some fun with the guys, we all had a wonderful day and ride, thanks for cruising with The Pres guys.
