The damp roads put a bit of a dampener on today’s turn up, but 3 riders made the effort. The sunny conditions were hard to bare, but we endured it, apart from myself, we had Shane Orr and Big Al. Big Al led us out, down the old Hwy to the Burg and out over the weir and past Stanwell Tops lookout and down along the coast rd, south to Memorial Dr and onto the southern freeway, exiting at Albion Park, and making our way to the Blue Jay’s Cafe for morning tea.
After our coffee hit, we headed for Kiama via Jamberoo and Saddleback, before turning into Gerringong and heading out to Shoalhaven Heads Hotel via the 7 mile Beach rd. On arrival, we gave Peter Simpson a call, who joined us for lunch and a cooling drink.
For the return leg, we took Coolangatta rd toward Berry, before taking Agars lane, Beach Rd east, and then Toolijooa Rd back onto the freeway north, just before Gerringong, before the run straight for home, stopping at Heathcote before parting ways.
A big thanks to Al for leading today, and Shane for taking the tail. It was great to catch up with Peter also, we could all feel the pain of the tuff decision he had to make, to either keep painting furniture, or go to the pub and catch up with the boys. A very nice dry and mostly sunny day for a nice ride.
