Another typical Meet & Greet Tuesday morning roll-up, the usual disorientation of everyone trying to look inconspicuous or pretending to be busy with something else so they wouldn’t be sucked in to lead the ride. Luckily, on this day, Keith (Gorilla) stepped forward on the proviso that someone else write the trip report. Here, as usual, he consulted his magic phone electronic tech aid and unluckily the auspicious number to appear happened to be the one he’d consigned to me – beginning to think that this might be manipulated, but who am I to impugn any wrongdoing here… this I wrote for a trip we did on Tues., 12th Sept., 2023, talk about a ‘déjà vu’ incident and I refuse to say anything about rigging, or whatever.
Needless to say, the decision was accepted begrudgingly and off we set to the selected destination of Jamberoo. Twelve hunky (look it up) boof-heads and one petite pillion set off on the usual route including Mt Kembla, Marshall Mount, etc., to our destination. Riders partaking in this endeavour were:
Keith (Gorilla) – Triumph
Col – BMWR1250RS
Keith (Shrek) – BMW R1200GS
Brad – BMW F800
Rick – Harley Davidson
Rob (Seagull) – Suzuki Weestrom
Owen & Leslie – Triumph
John (TT) – Yamaha FJR
Martin (The Bus) – Suzuki Hayabusa – Just made the cut-off point!
Theo – BMWR1200GS
Neal (Niel/Neale/Nialle/???) – BMWR1200GS
Moi (Bullfrog) – BMW S1000XR
When we reached Kevin Walsh Oval at Jamberoo we settled in for a relaxed pleasant break where we, had the usual banter about everything imaginable. From here the original plan was to go up Jamberoo Pass and then home via the ‘Y’ towns, but this was abandoned as the weather on top of the escarpment looked pretty dodgy. The alternative route selected was up Saddleback, along Swamp Road and then slab it home.
I left the group at the Northcliffe Drive turn-off as I had to deliver some DR’s and accordingly spend some time socialising with some motorcycle outlets – what a sacrifice on behalf of the Club. In summary, thanks Keith for leading the ride, and to all who were there, whose company, as always, was most enjoyable and hope all got home safely after I left you – ‘til next time!
