Well, this Thursday ride was only a short one, and a little different, it was a race against the weather, the forecast was for rain hitting the Sutherland area somewhere about 12 noon to 1pm, so as we had 9 riders and bikes ready for take-off, this also included a new rider / member Paul from Oatley on his great big silver 2018 Honda Gullwing, welcome aboard mate.
I gave the usual ride briefing through, Waterfall, OPH, Picton Rd., Mt Kembla to Cordeaux Caffeine where luckily, I had rung them from the servo, as when we arrived the queue of customers was out the door…. needless to say, the pies, cakes and coffee were terrific as usual, and the girls had reserved a table for the 9 of us outside…very nice.
As we all enjoyed our nibbles etc. and having one of the longest discussions (probably 45-50 minutes) about everything going on in the world, we were joined by Big Al who rode down solo but joined us for the run home.
After our very long chat, which was great, and Gerry receiving his new nickname Freckle Pincher, because he stole not only my freckle which came with our coffee, but everyone else’s too, very funny, I suggested we should make tracks home, as the clouds were getting thicker and darker.
This was more or less going back the way we came, down to the Princess Hwy, back up Mt. Kirra, Frank Bissel Drive, OPH to Helensburgh past Simbio and down through the RNP, saying or goodbyes at Audley car park and home.
I think I arrived home about 12:30pm and the rain started at 1:15pm, so a pretty good ride, and great timing I reckon…. nothing to do with the ride leader really…. a big thankyou to Seagull for doing an excellent job of Tail End Charlie too, hope everyone enjoyed the ride.
