It was that number 3 again, even though there was about a dozen bikes there waiting, one of which was a new BMW 1300 GS, who quizzed me regarding operation of the TFT screen, (it was a triple black) only 3 were from our club.

After they left, we had Slim Jim, Dakar and me, and after a brief discussion has taken place about where, which way and who would lead, off we went with Dakar as acting middleman and Slim on TEC, with the destination set for Hilltop, where we were to meet a friend of Jim’s.

We pulled out of the Heathcote Ampol for a quick U turn, and headed back up Heathcote Rd, passing a dark grey unmarked HWY Patrol BMW car facing downhill, right up near the top of the hill before New Illawarra rd.

We travelled out to Wattle Grove, onto the M5, exiting at Prestons, and went up Camden Valley Wy and onto Bringelly rd, then Greendale rd before turning left at Wallacia onto Silverdale rd. We turned right at The Oaks onto Burragorang rd and then then left at Oakdale onto Barkers Lodge rd, and then a right onto Fergusson rd and into Thirlmere, where we turned right for Hilltop.

On arrival, Jim’s mate Ian, walked in with us, we enjoyed a very leisurely morning tea and a yarn, Jim and Ian exchanged lath parts as planned, and the sun was still shining when we left and said goodbye to Ian.

We headed back via Colo Vale, the Y Towns, Wilton, and Appin rd, arrive home at around 2 pm. It turned out to be the best day of the week, no rain all day, plenty of water running over the roads here and there, but still, a good ride day.

Thanks to Slim, Dakar and Ian for the company today, the rain radar looked pretty clear at 8 am and it was. A nice 240 km ride.
