A nice sunny and predicted warm day today. Upon arrival there were thirteen keen and almost ready riders ready to go.
The riding crew were The Smirts (Owen & Lesley), Colonel, Les Chandler, Rob Tunnicuff (Tunnels), John Foley (TT), Bruce Moffatt, Brad (Red), Steve Stiles (Captain), Jim Allison (Slim), Rob Lord (seagull) and me Greg Melville (lucky). Vic and Erica Swibel were there as well but they didn’t ride with us.
Tunnels volunteered to be ride leader and suggested Ruby’s Cafe that is near Bulli Beach, for morno and we keep to the coast to avoid some of the day’s heat. We went the OPH, down Mt Keira, through the CBD of Wollongong, caught every red light along Memorial Drive and backtracked to Ruby’s café to discover it was shut for reno. John, Jim and Rob decided to leave and the rest did a short walk to the Bulli Café where we enjoyed our coffee and food with a cooling sea breeze and beautiful view.
Food consumed it was off home via the coast rd and the RNP, where the temp reached 36 degrees. We said our goodbyes at the Audley weir.
Thanks, Tunnels, for the interesting but more importantly cool ride.
Greg Melville
