What a magnificent day for a ride……nice and sunny, no wind, a light chill in the air – just perfect – so where were the myriad of riders?
This left seven intrepid souls to enjoy this brilliant day, namely:
- John (TT) – Yamaha
- Bruce – Ducati
- John – BMW (R1200R)
- Steve – Triumph
- Rick – Harley Davidson
- Phil (Chainsaw) – KTM
- Moi – BMW (S1000XR)
Quite an assortment of bikes and again no GS’s – seems to be a common factor with my rides. Speaking of that, it appears I was rudely reluctantly volunteered to lead it. As not being overly creative and four of the seven hadn’t been there before, Smith’s Lane Café, Wongawilli, was a no brainer.
Anyway, followed the usual route, via RNP, to the bottom of Mt Keira, then highway slabbed it to the Swamp Rd., turn-off. This we did, for a change, in reverse then onto Avondale Rd, via Jamberoo & Marshall Mount. Then around the back of Horsley (west of Dapto) to our destination. Here we had to intermingle with, what seemed like, half of Illawarra new mothers and their offspring – quite a change from the usual fare.
The standard world changing discussions and what was happening with BMW on the South Coast was debated, two thought they’d have to check it out – might see some new bikes soon – ha ha. This left five of us to head for our normal abodes via Mt Kembla then onto the OPH, via Harry Graham & Clive Bissell Drives – waved farewell to them at the Sublime Point turn-off.
As per usual, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would like to thank those that came with me – whose company, as always was greatly appreciated/enjoyed, and can only hope this was reciprocated – and, sorry about the roadworks and new tar.
