After the big turnout for Thommo’s funeral I didn’t really expect anyone to turn up for the next days ride, and at 9am, being the only rider at Heathcote I put my helmet back on, gloves and sunglasses and was about to head off. That’s when Brad arrived on the BMW. Brad is never known to be early for a ride and 1 minute later I would have been gone.
So a quick word about where I was intending to go, Austinmer for a coffee, a nodding head and we were off. Brad has got an app on his GPS that identifies where Police or RMS traffic cameras have been recently sighted. Well we hadn’t gone as far as Garrawarra and it had alerted him twice. With both of us set up with UHF radios a quick warning was passed, although it was always my plan to have a leisurely ride down the OPH, Bulli Pass, turn left and back along the coast. But it helps to keep you aware of what’s going on.
At Austinmer we shared a coffee, and because it was just the two of us, it gave both of us a chance to catch up with how we came to motorcycling and what we had done for a living pre-retirement. Not exactly bromance but shared good company, something that’s easy to appreciate in a small group. We came home with a good run thru the Nasho all the way to Audley where we waved goodbye.
This simple ride really reflects what being in Ulysses is all about. Enjoying life, good company and a fang thru the Nasho.
