14th October 2024: Coffee Ride

Sun shining, blue sky, rain predicted later in the day. Put that prediction with the rest in the toss-a-coin basket.

Today’s get-out-of-bed-early brigade were Perry, John and Debbie, Whispers, and 3-Wheel Dave. A nice day. Let’s try Jamberoo Village Café.

School holidays over, 40 zones back in force. Must remember to slow down at the flashing lights. OPH was clear of the mobile camera car that’s usually there, school zone no. 1.

Not much traffic. A lot must be taking an extra day off to fit in the school holiday break. Through Albion Park Rail town [Must check out the bakery at the lights one day].

Right at the Shell, school zone no. 2. Left at Jamberoo Rd., school zone no. 3. Past this school, the speed limit has been reduced to 50 km/h even when out of town. This is a real trap because you would expect it to be 80 km/h [be warned]. The 50 zone extends all the way to Jamberoo Village. Easy parking opposite the café. We enjoyed breakfast in the sun.

With the cloud cover descending, we returned via Swamp Rd to Princes Hwy, where on the outskirts of Wollongong, one big black cloud dropped its load on us for 5 minutes. Then the sun came out again, giving us a dry ride.

Back to Heathcote for goodbyes. Not wishing to tempt fate, I went straight home without refueling [must remember for next ride].

Thanks, guys, and Debbie.

Cheers, Whispers
