This was a self-centred run as I had to deliver some DR Magazines and I was a bit pushed for time – so, thought why not combine a ride and a magazine delivery – hence the ulterior motive. Needless to say, it may have come as a bit of a surprise that I volunteered to lead a ride – as explained, it was not a noble act on my part, but a very truly selfish one. In the end there was no need for apologies as the other four that turned up seemed to take it in their stride and may have also even enjoyed it.
Anyway, the other four – Rob ‘Tunnels’ – Ducati, Rick ‘Bundy’ (ex ‘Fini-Lek’) – Harley, Phil ‘Chainsaw’ – KTM, Bruce ‘?????’– Ducati and myself ‘Bullfrog’ – BMW, took a relatively conservative route to the ‘Cakes By Rach Café’. Namely: the OPH, Mt Keira, M1 Princes Motorway and then down Northcliffe Drive finishing up at the Café, basically diagonally opposite Port Kemble Pool/Beach.
After a very pleasant morning tea/discussion I bid my farewells and pushed on to the various DR advertisers. The others headed for ……….., well I really don’t know – there was talk about checking out ‘Lo Stretto Café’ out on the headland above the Marine Rescue Station/Museum/MSB, Port Kembla – guess someone will supply some information about that.
In summary, I managed what I had to do, got home when I was supposed to do, thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s company, and hope it was reciprocated – maybe do it again next month – who knows – carpe diem.
