A nice day saw 16 starters turn up for the ride. We took off on time and headed down the highway, turned off at Waterfall, through National Park and on to Helensburgh. Traffic was good, considering it was school holidays and everyone stuck together nicely, although I would have been better informed if my radio hadn’t played up.

We continued via Mt Kembla, Albion Park and on to Jamberoo for morno’s. The park there was very busy, virtually full of bikes and cars. During the break a number of riders indicated they would be pulling off before lunch. Note to self: when this happens in future please ensure these riders wait for the remaining group to depart before going their seperate ways.

On resumption we headed up Jamberoo Pass, turned right at the top and I turned left into the Tourist Road only to see all but two of the riders not take the turn and follow the second rider down towards Macquarie Pass. That left Col, Shane and me. Col tried getting anyone on radio but to no avail. We weren’t going to chase them down the hill so after waiting a while decided that the three of us would carry on. I found out later that they did stop some 300m on and that some turned round, but by then it was too late.

The remaining three took a side road to Robertson, through Kangaroo Valley, Berry then on to Gerroa Fisho’s for lunch. Home via Saddleback, Swamp Road and Mt Kiera. The other two seemed to like the ride. Pity about the six other riders who had wanted to do the whole ride. That will not happen again. Thanks to TT for his TEC duties early in the ride.
