Up early (for me) and looked out the window to be greeted with sunny skies and perfect riding temperatures. Obviously the only thing to do was to have breakfast and head to Heathcote to see who has turned up for the coffee ride.
Eleven riders and one pillion at Ampol keen to ride but who will lead. Col kindly nominated me so in the best corporate speak, “challenge accepted” and we were on the road to Thirlmere. Gerry advised he will only join us for part of the ride, better some of the ride than none in my opinion.
By special request from our TEC the ride commenced via RNP then OPH, Appin Road, Broughton Pass, Douglas Park, Menangle Road, Finns Road, Cawdor Road, Burragorang Road to The Oaks then Montpelier Drive, Barkers Lodge Road and back way to Thirlmere via Scroggies Road. I had cleverly only relayed our proposed route at the Heathcote briefing as far as Douglas Park with the destination as Thirlmere. This made it impossible for me to get lost provided I eventually ended up in Thirlmere. I love it when a plan comes together.
After coffee, pies and cakes were consumed with way home was Cedar Creek Road to Barkers Lodge Road, Picton where we had a short wait while one of the crew refuelled, Razorback then we retraced our steps back to Heathcote.
TEC said goodbye via the radio but the rest stopped for the obligatory goodbye and photo. Great morning ride covering over 200km in perfect riding weather. Thank to all for coming and our TEC TT for the help in keeping the group together.
Cheers Red
